Below the green fist, and inside the shrine-dome, is the Arabic word "Saraya" or "supporters". The dome itself is a stylized version of the word "Ashura", which is a day of mourning for Shiites as they annually commemorate the death of "Husayn ibn Ali", grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and the third Shia Imam. The long, thin yellow slogan reads: "The ummah/community/house of the Imams of al-Husein/Husayn". Imam Husein/Husayn was martyred at the Battle of Karbala in Oct. 680. The two-prong sword is that of the Zulfiqar sword, which indicates that this is a Shia-Muslim militia. There is a hidden flagpole sleeve at the right hoist side.
